Here at Opentree we like to support good causes around the UK associated with our client-base.
We’re currently sponsoring our friends at Atkins Global who are taking on a 140 mile bike ride challenge to raise money for a Derbyshire-based hospice.
Treetops supports families by providing end of life care, bereavement counselling, respite and day centre care. During the last few weeks of a patient’s life, the hospice helps the family with nursing support and facilities overnight so they can rest to enable them to look after their loved one at home during the daytime.
To help raise much –needed funds a 24 strong team of cyclists from Atkins, CPL and Network Rail aim to ride the 140 mile route from Bedford to Sheffield which will mark of the start of construction work of the Midland Main Line Electrification Project.
James Collis from Atkins said: “Some of the colleagues working on our own project team have lost loved ones this year and the support that Treetops Hospice provided to their family was incredible. I can’t stress how amazing the hospice staff are, making a difficult time a little bit easier. This is the opportunity for us all to give something back to them. The cost of a nurse to sit with a patient at their home for 1 night is £280 so this is an amazing free service that they provide. It is essential.”
